Dan Lahav

Dan is a computer scientist and is a researcher at IBM. He is involved in the development of Project Debater – the first AI system that can debate humans on complex topics, with the goal of helping people building persuasive arguments and making well-informed decisions.

In 2018, Dan was crowned Best Speaker at the World at the World Universities Debating Championship; a historic record for a non-native English speaker. Beyond the World Championship, cumulatively Dan has over 50 debate trophies and has been active in discursive projects in over 40 countries that span 5 continents. He has received awards for contributions to debating and free speech, and he lectures frequently on critical thinking and technology. On top of his debating work, Dan is a computational biologist studying applications of AI in biomedical research.
